The Queen Excluder is a specialized tool used to limit the queen's egg-laying activities. Utilizing the size difference between the queen bee and worker bees, the barrier width is designed to allow worker bees to pass freely while restricting the queen bee's movement.

This device confines the queen to lay eggs in a specific area of the beehive, effectively dividing the hive into separate spawning and honey storage areas.

There are two main types of queen excluders:

Plane separation board: Used as a barrier between the nest box and the relay box
Frame type separation board: Features the same external dimensions as the shutter and is typically used within the nest box
