The queen excluder is a specialized tool used to limit the queen's egg-laying area. Utilizing the size difference between queen and worker bees, the barrier width is designed to allow worker bees to pass freely while restricting queen bee movement. This confines the queen to lay eggs in a specific area of the beehive, effectively dividing the hive into spawning and honey storage areas.
There are two types of queen excluders: the plane separation board used for barriers between the nest box and relay box, and the frame-type excluder with the same external dimensions as the shutter, typically used within the nest box.
